Frank A. Sakelaris is the co-founder and a principal of Shepherd Group Real Estate Advisors.  Mr. Sakelaris has over twenty-five years of experience in successful real estate and business activities.

Mr. Sakelaris has been involved with the operations of over 50 properties encompassing 17 million square feet.  He has worked on office, retail, industrial, and multi-unit residential properties. His experience covers management, leasing, development, acquisitions and dispositions. He has negotiated over 400 commercial leases (7 million square feet) and over 150 residential leases. He has also played a major role with the purchase or sale of several properties ($90,000,000).  Mr. Sakelaris has worked on several redevelopment projects and has served as a court-appointed receiver for more than twenty properties in Cook, DuPage, and Will Counties in the state of Illinois.

Mr. Sakelaris’ prior industry experience includes serving as a Vice President/Regional Manager for CenterPoint Properties, the largest owner of industrial properties in metropolitan Chicago.  He has also worked for the John Buck Company and several other real estate firms.  Mr. Sakelaris started his real estate career with The Chicago Tribune where he was involved with the renovation and the leasing of the Tribune Tower.

Mr. Sakelaris holds an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago and a BS from Indiana University.  He is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Illinois, a CPA, and a CCIM.  Memberships include NAIOP, BOMA, CREO, REIA, the American Institute of CPA’s, and the Illinois CPA Society.

Ian Xavier G. Carlos

Ian Xavier G. Carlos is the co-founder and a principal of Shepherd Group Real Estate Advisors.  Mr. Carlos has over 10 years of industry experience and has evaluated numerous office, retail, multifamily, hospitality, mixed-use, and industrial properties throughout the United States.  Mr. Carlos has expertise in both conventional and complex, highly structured transactions involving acquisition, recapitalization, re-development, construction, and development financing.  He has a diverse, multi-disciplinary institutional background in debt and equity underwriting, deal originations, valuation, credit analysis, business development, relationship management, loan portfolio and asset management, acquisitions, and capital markets.

Prior to co-founding Shepherd Group Real Estate Advisors, Mr. Carlos was a Director of Winthrop Realty Partners, L.P., served as a consultant to a private equity debt fund sponsored by Goldman Sachs, and held various positions with JPMorgan, LaSalle Bank, Capital Trust, and Landauer Realty Group. 

Mr. Carlos has been a member of the Commercial Mortgage Securities Association since 2000, is affiliated with the Urban Land Institute, the Real Estate Lenders Association – Chicago Chapter, the Chicago Real Estate Council, and the Real Estate Investment Association.  Mr. Carlos received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Northwestern University in Chicago.
